THE EMERGING PHOTOGRAPHERS COMPETITION
Emerging Photographers is an annual competition that gives photography students, apprentice photographers and those just beginning their careers a unique opportunity to share their vision and talent with the world. Selected photographers will have their images featured in the Emerging Photographers’ portfolio published in Photo Life’s February/March 2016 issue.

The 2016 Photo Life Student Award recipient is Chris Forsyth from Dawson College. Selected by the Photo Life team and David duChemin, the Photo Life Student Award recognizes the most outstanding Emerging Photographers participant enrolled at a recognized Canadian photography program.

Rules & Regulations
REGISTRATION: Please read the Rules and Regulations and register your personal information through the online submission facilities by clicking on the Enter here button above. Once the registration has been completed, you will receive an email with complete login information. Simply follow these instructions to upload your images from a computer. Mail-in entries are not available for this contest.
IMAGES: Maximum of 3 images per participant. Image format: JPEG format only; image width: 1200 pixels; files must not exceed 1 MB. Technical information (camera brand and model, lens, exposure, aperture, etc.) as well as a short text commenting the image must be provided with each submitted image (200 characters maximum).
Important: Be sure to have available a high-resolution version of each of the images that you submit. Should any of your images be selected for publication, the high-resolution version will be required for reproduction in Photo Life magazine. Failing to provide a high-resolution version if required will compromise the publication of your image. If your images do not respect the above specifications, they will be rejected by the submission facilities.
PARTICIPATION FEES: Participation to Emerging Photographers is free.
Emerging Photographers is conducted by Apex Publications Inc., publisher of Photo Life and Photo Solution magazines. It is open to all Canadian residents, with the exception of all employees and their immediate families of Apex Publications Inc.
Images will be judged according to originality, composition, lighting and technical quality.
PUBLICATION OF SELECTED IMAGES
Images selected for Emerging Photographers will be published in the February/March 2016 issue of Photo Life magazine, available at newsstands as of the beginning of February 2016, and in an online gallery, for an undetermined period, at www.photolife.com. Authors of images selected for publication will be contacted shortly after the contest judging, which will take place in December 2015. Please do not write or phone to know the results of the competition.
THE PHOTO LIFE STUDENT AWARD
New this year, the student participant with the most distinctive work will receive two essential tools to boost his or her emerging career: a web portfolio on www.photolife.com and a two-hour discussion with veteran photographer David duChemin. The winner of the Student Award will be selected from participants who are enrolled at a recognized Canadian photography program at the time of their registration to the competition.
Apex Publications Inc. reserves publication rights of winning images in its magazines (including covers) and electronic media, as well as possible use in future Emerging Photographers’ promotional material.
CLAIM OF OWNERSHIP AND MODEL RELEASES
Contestants must own all rights to the works submitted and are solely responsible for obtaining model releases, when applicable. As such, Contestants hold the publisher and Contest sponsors harmless from any breech of copyright in Canada, the United States and elsewhere and from consequential litigation.
Entries uploaded through the Contest website, www.photolife.com/emerging, must be uploaded before 11:59 p.m. EST on November 16, 2015.
