THE BEST OF CANADIAN PHOTO CLUBS COMPETITION

The Best of Photo Clubs Competition invites photo-club members across Canada to share their talent by sending 3 images to be considered for publication in the June/July 2016 issue of Photo Life and on photolife.com. There is no limit on the number of individual entries from each club and participation is free. This competition is open for entries through 11:59 p.m. EST on March 15, 2016.

Rules & Regulations

PARTICIPATION INSTRUCTIONS

REGISTRATION: Please read the Rules and Regulations and register your personal information through the online submission facilities by clicking on the Enter here button above. Once the registration has been completed, you will receive an email with complete login information. Simply follow these instructions to upload your images from a computer. Mail-in entries are not available for this contest.

IMAGES: Maximum of 3 images per participant. There is no limit on the number of individual entries from each club. Image format: JPEG format only; image width: 1200 pixels; files must not exceed 1 MB. Technical information (camera brand and model, lens, speed, aperture, etc.) as well as a short text commenting the image must be provided with each submitted image (200 characters maximum). Be sure to have available a high-resolution version of each of the images that you submit. Should any of your images be selected for publication, the high-resolution version will be required for reproduction in Photo Life magazine. Failing to provide a high-resolution version if required will compromise the publication of your image. If your images do not respect the above specifications, they will be rejected by the submission facilities.

PARTICIPATION FEES: Participation to Best of Canadian Photo Clubs is free.

ELIGIBILITY

Best of Canadian Photo Clubs is conducted by Apex Publications Inc., publisher of Photo Life and Photo Solution magazines. It is open to all Canadian residents members of Canadian photo clubs, with the exception of all employees and their immediate families of Apex Publications Inc.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Images will be judged according to originality, composition, lighting and technical quality.

PUBLICATION OF SELECTED IMAGES

Images selected for Best of Canadian Photo Clubs will be published in the June/July 2016 issue of Photo Life magazine, available at newsstands as of the beginning of June 2016, and in an online gallery, for an undetermined period, at www.photolife.com. Authors of images selected for publication will be contacted shortly after the contest judging, which will take place in April 2016. Please do not write or phone to know the results of the competition.

PHOTO CLUB OF THE YEAR

Each photo club is invited to submit a one-minute video about what makes it unique and valuable. The club with the best response will be named Photo Club of the Year. Just send us an email at write@photolife.com when you’re ready to send your file, and we’ll provide you with details for file transfer.

PUBLICATION RIGHTS

Apex Publications Inc. reserves publication rights of winning images in its magazines (including covers) and electronic media, as well as possible use in future Best of Photo Club promotional material. By submitting a video, photo clubs and photo club members agree to its publication on the Photo Life website (photolife.com), YouTube Channel (youtube.com/user/photolifemag) and Facebook page (facebook.com/photolifemag).

CLAIM OF OWNERSHIP AND MODEL RELEASES

Contestants must own all rights to the works submitted and are solely responsible for obtaining model releases, when applicable. As such, contestants hold the publisher harmless from any breech of copyright in Canada, the United States and elsewhere and from consequential litigation.

DEADLINE

Entries must be uploaded through the contest website, photolife.com/bestofphotoclubs, before 11:59 p.m. EST on March 15, 2016.

ACCEPTANCE OF RULES

Participation in the Best of Canadian Photo Clubs indicates complete acceptance of the above Contest Rules & Regulations.
