In the spring of 2014, which was the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, Richard Robesco created a series of photographs of the coast of northwestern France. Though the images are of historical Second World War sites, the artist has chosen to highlight the beauty of these places as a way to show the recovery that time brings. A visual artist based in Gatineau, Robesco is the School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa (SPAO) Artist-in-Residence. War Beaches is presented by and at Exposure Gallery, in Ottawa, in association with the SPAO. The exhibition is on view through February 17, and there will be a reception on February 4 from 6 to 8 p.m.
