SIGMA Introduces Second APS-C f/1.8 Zoom Lens, 50-100 mm f/1.8 DC HSM | Art
Gentec International, the exclusive Canadian distributor of Sigma lenses, announces the second f/1.8 Art zoom lens for APS-C sensors, the Sigma 50-100 mm f/1.8 DC HSM | Art. SIGMA was determined to create a zoom lens that offers the same brightness and resolution as a fixed focal length lens: in other words, the highest level of optical performance and expressive power. The first result of this challenge was the SIGMA 18-35 mm f/1.8 DC HSM | Art. In addition to fulfilling the exacting requirements of SIGMA’s Art line, this lens was the world’s first APS-C zoom for DSLRs to offer a constant f/1.8 aperture value throughout the zoom range. Building on this concept, SIGMA has developed the new SIGMA 50-100 mm f/1.8 DC HSM | Art lens, a large-diameter mid-range telephoto zoom lens. While offering even greater brightness than a f/2.8 telephoto zoom, this lens covers the focal lengths of three prime lenses in one package: 85 mm f/1.8, 105 mm f/1.8, and 135 mm f/1.8 (35 mm equivalent). A true game-changer, this lens is ideal for portraits with subtle bokeh effects and more, and it sets a new standard for zoom lens image quality.

The new Sigma 50-100 mm f/1.8 DC HSM | Art lens has a suggested retail price of $1,549.95 and is expected to be available for Sigma, Canon and Nikon in May 2016.

SIGMA Introduces New Standard for Mirrorless, 30 mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary
Gentec International, the exclusive Canadian distributor of Sigma lenses, announces the combination of outstanding optical performance and a compact design in the new Sigma 30 mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary. This new large-aperture standard lens gives owners of mirrorless cameras the opportunity to experience the fun of shooting wide open, with f/1.4 brightness. Photographers will enjoy the beautiful bokeh effect that only a large-aperture lens can offer and the exceptionally sharp optical performance expected from a fine prime lens. Leveraging SIGMA’s latest technologies and design insights, this new lens fulfills the concept of the Contemporary line, in which varied elements come together in optimal balance.

A prime lens with a focal length of around 50 mm and f/1.4 brightness offers an angle of view very similar to human vision. The photographer can use the shallow depth of field at wide-open aperture to take stunning portraits and tabletop still-life shots. Or he or she can close the aperture for greater depth of field and shoot landscapes or snapshots. In this way, standard lenses allow photographers to enjoy so many of the fundamental methods of photography and have thus been favorites for decades. Photographers can experience f/1.4 brightness and standard lens functionality with a 35-mm equivalent focal length of 60 mm on the Micro Four Thirds system and 45 mm on the Sony E-mount system.

The new Sigma 30 mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary lens has a suggested retail price (SRP) of $459.95 and is expected to be available for Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-mounts in April 2016.

SIGMA Mount Converter MC-11

SIGMA Mount Converter MC-11

SIGMA Introduces MC-11 Mount Converter for EOS and SIGMA Mount Lenses to Sony E-mount cameras
Gentec International, the exclusive Canadian distributor of Sigma lenses, announces the new MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11, allowing photographers to use their SIGMA SA mount and SIGMA EOS mount interchangeable lenses with the Sony E-mount camera bodies.

Until now, the market has seen the introduction of many methods for using lenses from one camera system with a body from a different system. In the digital age, however, camera systems have become much more complex, and it is challenging to create a mount converter that aligns both the mechanics and software of the lens and body. Creating a converter that matches lenses for current DSLRs to bodies for mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera systems is even more challenging. Now the market demands a converter that goes beyond simply aligning the flange back distance to retaining full functionality.

MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 incorporates the digital data necessary to provide fast and smooth AF for compatible lenses as well as OS features and functions of the camera that help control peripheral brightness and correct transverse chromatic aberration, distortion, and more. In addition, since Sony E-mount camera bodies do not require mechanical integration with lenses for aperture control, the MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 makes SIGMA SA mount interchangeable lenses and SIGMA interchangeable lenses for Canon cameras fully compatible with the automatic exposure control of Sony E-mount camera bodies.

The new SIGMA MC-11 Mount Converter has a suggested retail price (SRP) of $339.95 and is expected to be available in April 2016.
