In Toronto, the Stephen Bulger Gallery is presenting Dona Schwartz’s On The Nest through February 27. Schwartz has photographed both expectant parents and empty nesters for this series examining parenthood. The images were taken with a large-format camera in the rooms prepared for the expected children or in the former rooms of the grown children. The children are never depicted, and the titles of the photographs indicate how much time there is before the expected birth or how much time has passed since the grown child left home. On the Nest, a monograph of the work, was published in November by Kehrer Verlag.
