Circuit Gallery in Toronto is presenting Naomi Harris’ new project EUSA, which focuses on themed towns, festivals and amusement parks in Europe and the United States. By looking at U.S.-themed places in Europe and European-themed places in the States, Harris reveals how people express ideas about other cultures. Covering a range of situations—some locations strive for authenticity and others veer towards offensive types of cultural appropriation—EUSA raises some important questions about cultural identity. The exhibition is on view from August 27 through September 19. There will be an Artist’s Reception on September 11 from 6 to 9 p.m.
