Press release by Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation
The adventure continues with the WG-5 GPS, the newest adventureproof camera brought to you by Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation. The latest companion in the WG series is equipped with new features for active, on-the-go photographers including a new underwater mode and enhanced Interval Shooting settings that allow multiple images to be taken over a pre-set time in both still and video modes. With an easy to hold, non-slip body and over two full hours of operation, there is no need to be concerned about missing any exciting moments.
“The WG-5 GPS easy to use modes and convenient features are ideal for the on-the-go adventurer,” said Jim Malcolm, President, Ricoh Imaging North America. “The WG-5 GPS enables users to capture their own personal adventures in any condition—whether it is mountain biking, skiing, or snorkeling. With the WG-5 GPS, savoring all of those special moments is possible.”
The truly dependable, heavy-duty, WG-5 GPS is waterproof to a depth of 14 metres, has an upgraded shock-resistance against a fall of 2.2 metres, dustproof and cold-resistant against temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius, and crushproof against weights up to 100 kgf (kilogram force). The advanced WG-5 GPS, 4x optical zoom lens offers a maximum aperture of
f/2.0 and 25-mm wide-angle coverage making it possible to capture all of one’s surroundings. The 16-megapixel, CMOS sensor assures superior image quality whether images are taken underwater or on land. Capturing the tiniest details is made simple with six LED Macro Lights around the circumference of the lens barrel, allowing for brighter, more uniform illumination on a subject when the Digital Microscope mode is selected—perfect for capturing droplets of water, snow on the tip of your ski, or grains of sand at the beach.
Thanks to the high resolution, 3.0-inch LCD monitor, and anti-reflection (AR) coating, light reflection is suppressed to reduce glare so that it is easy to use outdoors even in strong sunlight. Capturing rich, detailed video is made simple with the WG-5 GPS’s HD movie-recording mode, which offers H.264 recording at 30 frames per second. Along with an assortment of mounting accessories such as a flat-surface camera mount, handlebar mount and suction-cup camera mount, users can capture images with hand-free enjoyment.
