From August 11 through 15, ViewPoint Gallery in Halifax is offering a one-week summer youth camp for students ages 13 through 18. Campers will benefit from technical and creative instruction, hands-on experience, and one-on-one mentoring. Topics of the week include photography history, creative exercises, camera fundamentals, exposure, form and content, categories of photography, composition, modes (including shooting in Manual), the rule of thirds, lighting, printing, and project goal-setting. Students will light paint, do hands-on activities, take field trips, participate in informal reviews, make pinhole cameras, create 3D images, and have the chance to show their work to friends at family through an exhibition at ViewPoint Gallery.
