From April 13 through 15, the Latow Photographers Guild of Burlington, Ont., is hosting its annual seminar at the Burlington Art Centre. On April 13, there will be an all-day seminar with Canadian nature photographer Mike Grandmaison. In the morning session, 100 Photographs: Why They Work, Grandmaison will share his experiences, techniques and approach to making strong images. He will also lead afternoon sessions entitled In Black and White and Image Explorations. These seminars will be followed by the AV Festival in the evening.
On Sunday, April 14, Grandmaison will lead two half-day mini-seminars: Fine Art Photography and Putting your Best Foot Forward (which covers personal websites, books, photo contests, galleries, photo sharing sites and juried exhibitions).
Monday, April 15, is dedicated to a field trip/workshop with Grandmaison. Participation is limited to 15 photographers. The events of the morning include a sunrise photo shoot, followed by a post-processing demonstration by Grandmaison. In the afternoon, participants will get a chance to process their own work and receive assistance in the Latow studio, and then Grandmaison will critique participants’ images.
You can choose to attend everything, only one thing, or several events. Some events have limited space. There will also be a juried show of photographic prints. To buy tickets or learn more, please visit the Latow Seminar and AV Festival website.
