Sony’s refreshed Cyber-shots cover a lot of bases. These new models all record HD video (resolution varies with model) and include Sony’s optical SteadyShot image stabilization system.

At the entry level are two new cameras — the $130 W710 and $160 W730. Both take 16 megapixel images and have wide-range zoom lenses (5x 28-140mmequiv. for the W710 and 8x 25-200mm equiv. for the W730).

New in the ultra-compact category is the WX80 ($220), a 16.2 megapixel camera with an 8x (25-200mm equiv.) zoom lens. It also has built-in WiFi, which allows you to communicate with a smartphone or tablet using the Sony PlayMemories app.

The ruggedized Cyber-shot TF1 ($230) is waterproof to 10 metres and is also built to withstand dust, cold temperatures and rougher handling then the typical point and shoot. It uses a 16.1 megapixel sensor and is equipped with a 4x optical zoom (25-100mm equiv.).
