Biking with the Pentax Optio WG-2 GPS

This spring, I tried out a Pentax Optio WG-2 GPS for a week. Since the point of having a waterproof, shockproof, crushproof, coldproof and dustproof camera is that you don’t have to be too careful with it, I decided to make the most of the opportunity. I commute on my bike, so I decided to attach the Optio WG-2 GPS to my handlebars and ride with it—rain or shine. I set the camera to take photos at intervals of 10 seconds and put together this video with the resulting images. Special thanks to True Love Always for the permission to use their song, “Bicycle Rider.” If you like the song, you can buy it here:

Interesting idea, but too hard to watch. Images change too fast & I had to quit after 1/4 of it. Goodness, it’s only 2 minutes; make it 3 & give each pic a fraction of a second longer.

With the software that Guy used to make his video, the next slowest option was to double the time. There was not a way to add smaller fractions of time, so he made the artistic choice that he preferred it faster to convey the concept of constant motion, rather making the video twice as slow.
