On view from March 2 through 31 at Toronto’s Gallery 44, Constructing Space showcases the work of Laura St. Pierre and Immony Men. St. Pierre’s Urban Vernacular Series is a collection of large-scale photographs documenting her sculptural installations of normally discarded objects in urban environments. Men’s Taking Care of Business is a photo-based performance/installation during which he will set up an office in the gallery and print portions of images on post-its, then mount them on the walls to create a life-size image. In the Gallery 44 Vitrines, Maria Raponi’s From Above will display composite images of the ceilings of the three floors above the vitrines, reducing multiple views to a single perspective and exploring the way our experiences become transcribed onto our environments like unwritten graffiti.
