Panasonic is working on stuffing two lens systems into a single housing to create a Lumix G interchangeable lens capable of 3D image capture. The separate lens assemblies create the left and right stereo portions, which are then processed by special software to create 3D images.
According to Panasonic Canada Inc., the resulting images can be viewed on the company’s 3D Viera TV sets and 3D Blu-ray disc players. The company says the 3D lens will be available by year’s end.
A “compatible cameras to be announced” footnote leads us to suspect that this lens may not work with all mFourThirds bodies.
