With the 2008 edition of Emerging Photographers, participants are invited to submit their images via the on-line facilities developed specifically for this purpose, following the below Participation Instructions.
PARTICIPATION INSTRUCTIONS
IMAGES
Maximum of 3 images per participant. Image format: digital files, JPEG only, Greyscale or Colour (RGB). Image size: min. 5 x 7 inches to max. 9 x 12 inches. File size: maximum 1 MB. Technical information (camera brand and model, lens, exposure, aperture, etc.) as well as a short text commenting the image must be provided with each submitted image (200 characters maximum). Important: Be sure to have available a high-resolution version of each of the images that you submit. Should any of your images be selected for publication, the high-resolution version will be required for reproduction in Photo Life magazine. Failing to provide a high-resolution version if required will compromise the publication of your image. High-resolution files must respect the following specifications: non-compressed TIFF or maximum quality JPEG, Greyscale or Colour (RGB), 300 dpi, final print size of 9 x 12 inches.
PARTICIPATION FEES
Participation to Emerging Photographers is free.
DEADLINE
To be accepted, images submitted to Emerging Photographers must be uploaded no later than May 11, 2008 at 23h59.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Eligibility Emerging Photographers is conducted by Apex Publications Inc., publisher of Photo Life and Photo Solution magazines. It is open to all Canadian residents, with the exception of all employees and their immediate families of Apex Publications Inc. and any person or group of persons having had an article and/or images published in Photo Life, Photo Sélection and/or Photo Solution, other than in Showtime, Expo, Readers’ Gallery, or Emerging Photographers, within the 12 months preceding the contest deadline of May 11, 2008.
Criteria Originality, composition, and technical quality.
Publication of selected images Images selected for Emerging Photographers 2008 will be published in the September 2008 issue of Photo Life, which will be available at newsstands as of the beginning of August 2008. Please do not write in or telephone to know the results of Emerging Photographers.
Publication Rights Apex Publications Inc. reserves publication rights of winning images in its magazines (including covers) and electronic media, as well as possible use in future Emerging Photographers’ promotional material.
Claim of Ownership Participants must own all rights to the images submitted and are solely responsible for obtaining model releases, when applicable. As such, participants hold Apex Publications Inc. harmless from any breech of copyright in Canada, the USA, and elsewhere and from consequential litigation.
Acceptance of rules Participation to Emerging Photographers indicates complete acceptance of the contest rules set forth herein.
