Montreal Gazette photographer wins international award

(source: Montreal Gazette) Gazette photographer Phil Carpenter has won an Award of Excellence from the Society for News Design, for a striking photograph of a sailor during Remembrance Day ceremonies in Montreal last year. The international organization, which promotes visual journalism, cited Carpenter’s photograph in its annual competition, which involved more than 9,000 entries of photos, pages, graphics and other design work.
